I don't understand Katie Price, Jodie Marsh and all those poor, puny people on Snog, Marry, Avoid? (I have to admit, it is
such compulsive viewing). What is so attractive about bright blonde bleached hair, an orange tan, minimal/no clothes and invested in makeup? Now maybe one of these could be fine... but all conglomerated together makes a huge mess. I'm not an avid follower of fashion in the respect that I go with what all these glossy magazines tell me (and I'm sorry, but double denim will
never look good) and have no sense of my own shape and body, but I do
love clothes and expressing myself with what I wear. I'm not skinny, slim and I'm verging past normal; so I suppose I have to try extra hard to look "nice". Most celebrities, I think, have become a slave to their own stylist or the latest fashion trend.
However I do not approve of
sights sites such as the iconic "lookbook" where hundreds of anorexically thin teens try and show how "high fashion" they are, when in reality many of them are unfashionable idiots. They could be
anyone, there's rarely a time where I see a truly unique person on there. Though I must admit the male fashion is
alot worse. Yes, you're wearing tight jeans and a checked shirt (and maybe a hat to be oh-so "cool"). Now shut up.
Here are a few of my style inspirations who I do not believe fit into this category, and - rather - express themselves in their own clothes
Anna Friel - though she adapts to fashion she is so versatile.
Kate Nash - although I don't think much of her personality I do love her clothes. She embraces femininity and colour when other people are a slave to the current trends. Her body in these pictures is quite similar to mine - though she is indeed thinner than I am -, and she emphasises her best bits. I lovelovelove her colour use. It's fantastic.
Notable others are: Holly Willoughby - the nation's "curvy girl" (despite not really being that curvy and actually quite slim). A lovely blonde icon and vision; far superior to Fern's out-of-date "I'm so retrocool" look, Selena Gomez, Nicola Roberts, Cheryl Cole (if she chose her own clothes, that is) and Blair Waldorf (
not Leighton Meester. Leighton Meester dresses terribly
